Mr. Samuel DeVon Sanders, Sam was born January 22, 1960 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Clearthus and Evon Sanders. Sam graduated from Powers High School in 1978. It was there he met his soul mate, friend and wife of thirty years, Fuzzy Susan Sanders. Upon graduation, Sam honorably served in the United States Marine Corps. In 1984 he hired into General Motors Flint Metal Fabricating Division as an electrician. Sam ultimately dedicated many years of involvement in various political endeavors and was an advocate for mentoring young students regarding apprenticeship opportunities. Sam had many passions which included belonging to the Masons since 2004 and was a Past Worshipful Master of John W. Stevenson Lodge, Apprentice Chairperson in 2007-June 2014, obtaining his Black Belt in Jiu Jitsu and his participation in the Crim Race four consecutive years. For those who knew Sam, knew he enjoyed working out, boating, fishing and riding his motorcycle. Whatever his involvement he always gave 100%.
Mr. Samuel DeVon Sanders, Sam was a proud and loving son, brother, husband, and father. Sam cherished the time he dedicated to his son Ahmad during his wrestling career while they traveled as a family across the country as he competed. Moreover, unlike most dads, Sam enjoyed the many hours he spent with his daughter Nikki during her cheerleading competitions; in fact, even showing her how to actually perform the cheers. Sam’s proudest achievement was his marriage to his life-long friend and his biggest cheerleader, Fuzzy. He cherished their love and their beautiful family!
Mr. Samuel DeVon Sanders, Sam leaves to cherish his memory: spouse, Susan Sanders; son, Ahmad (Raeshonda); daughter, Nikki; 2 sisters, Willie (Jim) Goldsmith and Shirley Kelly (Fred); mother and father-in-law, Mr. Haywood and Dorleen Johnson; 3 sister-in-laws, Darleen Osborn, Develle (Semaj) Johnson, all of Flint and Venus (Richard) Allen of Windermere, FL. and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to express special thanks to the UAW Local #659 and the brothers of the John W. Stevenson Lodge. |
