GOODMAN, Edmund "Ed" – Of Flushing, age 95, died Friday, June 13, 2014 at Hospice House of Shiawassee County.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Reverend Kevin Harbin and Pastor Wendy Orzel officiating.
Burial in Woodlawn Cemetery with a military graveside service under the auspices of VFW Post #822 Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hospice House of Shiawassee County.
Visitation 5-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Ed was born in Saginaw, Michigan on November 17, 1918, the son of the late Joseph and Alice Goodman and was a resident of Clio most of his life and resided in Flushing for the last 10 years.
On September 22, 1951 Ed married Elizabeth Betty Cady in Grand Blanc.
Ed graduated from Clio High School Class of 1936 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II, stationed in Europe.
He was an avid outdoorsman, loved fishing, hunting; enjoyed traveling, bowling, playing cards, gardening and was a Detroit Tiger fan.
Ed retired from AC Spark Plug Division in 1974 and was a member of UAW Local #651.
Surviving are daughter, Theresa and husband Jerry Smithwick of Flushing;
sister-in-law, Eleanor Streu of Port Richey, Florida;
niece, Deborah Phipps of New Port Richey, Florida;
nephews, Roger Leland of Citrus Heights, California and Gary Blanchard of Ft. Pierce, Florida;
good friends, Margaret Dyer, Theresa Sigourney and Bud Sefernick;
his cats, Bootsie and Sandy.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Betty Goodman in 2013 and sister, Celeste Goodman.
