DAUNT, Gerald W. “Jerry” - Of Flint, age 67, died Sunday, July 21, 2013 at Genesys Regional Medical Center.
The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Friday, July 26, 2013 at 11am at St. Michael Catholic Church, 609 East Fifth Avenue, Flint. Jerry will lie in state in church after 10am Friday. Father Eben MacDonald will preside and interment will follow in Sunset Hills Cemetery, with military rites under the auspices of VFW Post #822 Honor Guard.
Visiting hours are 12-9pm Thursday with a Rosary Thursday evening at 7pm at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family.
Jerry was born in Flint on October 27, 1945, the son of the late J. Frederic and Kathryn (Lawrence) Daunt and was a resident of Flint all his life. On May 21, 1971, he married Susan Williams. Jerry was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church. In 1974 he received a Masters Degree from Michigan State University. He proudly served in the United States Army. Jerry loved his family, enjoyed reading, watching MSU athletic events and history. Mr. Daunt was a former Assistant Principal at Powers Catholic High School and was Area Director of the Flint Special Olympics. Because of Jerry’s kind and sharing nature, he became a Gift of Life donor to help others.
Surviving are wife, Susan;
children, Melissa, Jeremy and Corinna, Nathan and Gina, Jonathon and Megan, Kevin, and Adam;
granddaughter, Lela;
siblings, Jack(Sue), Jim, Bob (Jeanne), Mike(Patti), Mary (Doug), Marti (Bob), Pat (Sue), Pete (Linda), Tom (Kathi), Dan (Martha), Paul (Georgina), Helen (Mike) and Steve(Lesley); special brother, Mike and Suzie Owens;
in-laws, Wallace & Marjorie Williams, Mark & Chris Williams and Paul & Bev Williams;
many nieces, nephews and cousins.
