Revelta Chawania Burns, affectionately known as “Jew” peacefully answered her heavenly call on February 16th 2025 surrounded by her family. Revelta was born October 16, 1958 in Florence, Alabama to the late Clinton and Wilhelmenia Aileen Burns. Revelta was a proud graduate of Austin East High School Class of 1977. She was a licensed beautician for many years in Flint and Knoxville and was still known for her beautiful “finger wave” technique. She later worked various jobs including her most recent position at the John T. O’Connor Senior Center before her health began to fail. She was a devoted volunteer at the Elston Turner Basketball Camp. She was a faithful member of Fourth United Presbyterian Church where she was a member of the hospitality committee. She also considered Pastor Sandford Miller and the New Salem Baptist Church her church family.
She is preceded in death by her Paternal grandparents: Willie and Laversa Burns. Maternal grandparents: Albert and Wilola Bowling. Parents: Clinton Burns Sr. and Wilhelmenia Aileen Burns, bonus mother, Shirley “Mama2” Burns. Uncles: Leroy Bowling, Robert Bowling, Glen Bowling, Bennie Woods. Aunts: Alma Bowling and Kay Frances Bowling. Siblings: Clinton Burns Jr., Charmaine Burns-Lattimore, Theresa Stockton. Brother in Law: Dwayne “Pooh Bear” Lattimore. Cousin: Leroy Bowling Jr. Best Friend: Harriet Jean Johnson. Special Friend: Mrs. Erma Ross.
She leaves to mourn her passing: son Robert Timell Hall, grandchildren: Tayten Burns, Ta’Zara Burns, Alexionna Hinton and Ty’Nia Burns; Siblings: Cynthia Burns, Donna Burns, Lavernon Burns, Gilbert Stockton, Donny (Violet) Young, Danetta Sanders and Tabace Burns. Sister in Law: Terry Burns. Great Aunts: Wylodean Thompson and Hermean Shelton. Aunt: Patricia Bowling. Nephews: Dereke Williams, Jagade (Belinda) Burns, Clinton Burns III, Bryce Logan, Terence Brown, Donald Oliver Jr., Monique Glasperal. Nieces: Cashauna Lattimore, Brandee (William II) Summey, Shante Brown, Alesia Burns, Kimberly Clark, Kai’Lee Burns, Deonna Howard, Gilbert Latrease Hawkins, Cesilie Burns, Breanna Burns and Jhadijah Brown. Devoted friends: Gloria Dean Stevenson, Ingrid Porter, Karen “Tolou” Miller, Marvain Simpson, Jackie Marshall, Sandy Johnson, Jackie Mills, Frank Gillespie, Cousin Ethel Lindsey, Sophia “Red” Hart, Sam McClellan, Fourth United Presbyterian Church Family and Austin East Classmates.
Revelta will forever be remembered by numerous precious great nephews, great nieces, cousins, dear friends, and extended family in Knoxville, California, Michigan and Alabama.
The family will receive friends Saturday March 1,2025 from 11-12 PM at Fourth United Presbyterian Church with a memorial service to follow. Reverend George Waters is the officiant. Pastor Sanford Miller will give words of comfort. Arrangements made with honor and integrity by Jarnigan Mortuary.

Words cannot adequately express our sincere appreciation for the many acts of love and generosity extended to us during the illness and passing of our loved one, Revelta Chawania “Jew” Burns. We thank each of you for your prayers, genuine concern and expressions of support.
