William H Brooks age 73 of Lennon passed away Friday, June 22, 2018 at McLaren Greater Lansing Hospital. Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Durand. Rev. Fr. Jonathan Perrotta will be officiating. Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, Durand Chapel and one hour prior to the service at the church. A rosary will be prayed on Wednesday at 7:00 PM.
William was born on December 1, 1944 in Durand, MI a son of Hazen and Dorothy (Cole) Brooks. He served his country in the United States Navy. On June 24, 1989 he married Deborah Culver. William was a member of the Boy Scouts of America as a scout master, the Durand V.F.W. and St. Mary's Catholic Church of Durand. He enjoyed rock collecting, traveling to the U.P., taking care of his lawn, road races and sports. Prior to his retirement he had been employed by General Motors for 37 years.
William is survived by his wife, Deborah Brooks; children, Sarah (Ivan) Espinoza, Jennifer (Rob Williamson) Brooks, Jennifer (Paul) Seeley and Andrew (Patty) Cochrane; and his grandchildren, Jake, Alec and Lily. He was preceded in death by both of his parents.
