KALUSH, Michael Joseph of Grand Blanc, MI, age 84, passed on January, 16th, 2016 in Naples, Florida.
Born in Flint, MI to Joseph and Anne (Mickels) Kalush. Beloved husband of 40 years to Brenda (Scott) and amazing father to Victoria, Kathleen, Loretta, Mary, Michael, Theresa, Rebecca, Rita, (mother: Antonia Kroska) Elizabeth and William (mother: Brenda Scott). Loving brother to Angeline (Retkovski), Raymond, Madeline (Brissette), Joseph, Martha (Huber) and Suzanne (Berriman). He was grandpa/papa to 31 wonderful grandchildren and great grandpa to 9 beautiful souls (with 2 on the way). His immense love of family and others was evident in all that he did and all that he was.
He stumbled into a long career of photography, film, and video spanning from Van Dyke Photography Studios to the Catholic Weekly Newspaper to WJRT channel 12, Flint to WXYZ, channel 7, Detroit. During his vast career in media, he served as a mentor and valued team member, positively influencing others with his wisdom and humor. Since his retirement in 1999, he shared time in Grand Blanc, Michigan and Naples, Florida with his wife, Brenda. Together they enjoyed spending valuable time with children and grandchildren, cruising with family and friends, and traveling abroad. Michael was constantly assisting those in need; family, friends, neighbors, or strangers. He had a warm and humble way of serving those around him whether offering life guidance, fixing a sink, transporting a grandkid to an activity, volunteering for hospice or caring for his ailing mother-in-law, Bonnie T. Scott.
There will be a 10am gathering hour, and 11am Celebration of Life mass followed by a Celebration of Life luncheon at Holy Redeemer in Burton, MI on Friday, February 1st. In lieu of flowers, please send honoring donations to the Holy Redeemer Outreach and St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
