CROWDER, Melvern Arthur – Of Traverse City, formerly of Flint, age 92, died Friday, August 2, 2019 at McLaren-Flint.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 8, 2019 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
Burial in Flint Memorial Park with military honors under the auspices of the U.S. Army.
Visitation 2-8 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. Thursday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Melvern was born in Marlette, Michigan on March 16, 1927, the son of the late Alfred and Frances (Kinsella) Crowder.
He served in the U.S. Army as a Military Policeman. Mr. Crowder worked at Buick Motor Division for 36 rewarding years.
Melvern was an avid deer hunter. He proudly built their house in Traverse City and enjoyed working on the house, taking care of the garden and planting flowers.
Surviving are wife, Jane Crowder;
son, Michael (Tammy) Crowder;
grandchildren, Michael (Kelsey) Crowder and Matthew (Ashley) Crowder;
two great-grandchildren on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Frances; brother, George Crowder and sister, Audrey Devis.
