MacDONALD (BREITENSTEIN), Judy Ann
Of Goodrich, was born in Grand Rapids Michigan on February 22, 1944, the daughter of Carl and Esther Breitenstein.
Her father worked for General Motors and this resulted in numerous moves for the family. In 1950 they moved to Flint, Michigan, where Judy attended St. Matthews Elementary School. There she met her future husband Martin (Marty) MacDonald. About 1956 Judy’s family was transferred to Marion, Ohio and the two lost touch with each other. The Breitensteins were transferred to Grand Blanc in 1960 and Judy finished her Junior and Senior year in high school at Grand Blanc High. Judy and Marty re-met at a YMCA dance when they were both freshman in college and subsequently dated all through college. Judy attended Eastern Michigan University where she earned a B.S. Degree in Education, specializing in teaching the handicapped, deaf and hard of hearing. After college graduation Judy and Marty were married on August 20th, 1966. They moved to Married Housing at Michigan State University where Marty started a year of study at MSU working on an MBA and Judy started her job teaching the handicapped at Walnut Elementary School in Lansing, Michigan.
After that first year they moved back to Flint with their first child, John and subsequently were blessed with two more sons, Stephen and Michael. Judy preferred to be a stay at home mom and involved her sons in 4-H activity on their mini farm in Goodrich, Michigan where they raised pygmy goats, chickens, geese and several dogs and cats. Judy was a life-long animal lover and supporter of the Michigan Humane Society. In her retirement, she enjoyed her companionship with the Ladies of the “Hawthorne Ridge Ladies Luncheon Group”.
Although Judy and Marty divorced in 2004 they remained good friends.
Judy was extremely proud of her sons and their families and loved to hear of the latest accomplishments of her grandchildren.
Judy was preceded in death by her older brother Richard Breitenstein of Solon, Ohio and his son, her nephew, John Andrew Breitenstein.
Judy is survived by her sons, John and grand-daughter, Raquel, Stephen (wife Cari) and grandsons Tate and Oliver, Michael (wife Carol) and grand-daughter, Megan and grand-son, Stuart;
