MARCH, Lester Iven – of Flint, age 86, passed away February 2, 2018 at his residence. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Monday, February 5, 2018 at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 5073 Daly Blvd., Flint; Pastor Gary L. Beck officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 AM until time of service on Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Rosary School, St. Mark Lutheran Church or Eastside Senior Center.
Lester was born in Flint, MI on December 27, 1931, son of the late, Steven Earl March and Edna Pearl (Dickinson) March. Lester proudly served his country with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from July 1952 – June 1954. He married Evelyn White on January 22, 1955 and she preceded him in death on November 14, 2004. Lester was a member of Eastside Senior Center and a longtime member of VCCA – Vintage Chevrolet Club of America. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and the Senior Center knew him for his baking and candy making “Elmer Fudd”. Lester worked at GM SPO from 1951-1990 as a Journeyman Electrician.
Lester is survived by his children, Barbara (Fred) Prevo, Lester March, Diane (Douglas) Hale, Debra (Andrew) Card and Sharon March-Routly; 25 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; siblings, Laura Gunderman, Viola Geriak, Duane March, Hazel (Charles) Merrill and Jackie (John) Corlew; sisters-in-law, Cheryl March and JoAnn White; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Jim Routly; siblings, Harold March, Naomi March and Chester March; brothers-in-law, John Gunderman, Andrew Geriak and Gerald White.
