Laurel Doris Lawcock
Of East Lansing, formerly Corunna, MI, passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2015, at Sparrow’s Hospice House of Mid-Michigan. Mrs. Lawcock was 80, and was born to Doris and Richard Williams, in Omaha, NE, on February 7, 1935.
Laurel possessed the gifts of a sense of humor and compassion. She could light up anyone’s day simply by a quick smile and loving words. She will be deeply missed by all.
She was married to John Contos and together they had four children, Crystal Lynn Weber, Dianne Alexanian, John William Contos and Nicholas Contos.
In 1966 she met the love of her life, Kay Kenneth Lawcock and enjoyed many years with him until his passing in 1984. She continued to give freely her love to her children and those around her. She nursed Ken through his illness and then helped her daughter Crystal through her cancer.
Mrs. Lawcock is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Owosso. She was involved in the Owosso Family History Center.
Services will be held at Nelson-House Funeral Homes, Owosso, Saturday, July 25, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. with Bishop Gus Pilon officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, July 24, 2015, from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm. She will be buried next to her husband Ken Lawcock at Greenwood Cemetery, Vernon.
She is survived by her daughter, Dianne (Michael) Alexanian; her sons John William (Lori) Contos and Nicholas John Contos (Penny Simpson); ten grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Kay Kenneth Lawcock, her mother Doris Williams, daughter Crystal Lynn Weber, her son Nicholas’ wife, Rita Contos and special friend Herbert Wilson.
Memorial contributions can be made in her honor to Sparrow’s Hospice House of Mid-Michigan. |
