Ethel was born in Flint on July 16, 1940, daughter of the late James and Mary (LaRose) Lanford. She married Charles Howell on July 3, 1964, in Flint. Ethel lived for her family. She always enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She could often be found serving her family by being a Brownie Leader, working in the school lunchroom or attending various events in support of them. Ethel also enjoyed serving her church. For many years she ran the church food pantry, was a catechism teacher and was a Eucharistic Minister. If there was ever anyone in need, Ethel was always there to share her gifts and talents. She was an active member of the Otisville Lions Club and the Daughters of Isabella. Ethel enjoyed bowling and was proud of the 20 years she bowled with the same ladies. She always looked forward to attending “Girls Night” or attending the weekend trips over the years. You never had to wonder what she was thinking because if she didn’t say it, you could see it on her face.
Ethel is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Chuck Howell; three children, Charles (Pam) Howell, Marie (Rick) Konieczka, Lynn (Bill) Churchill; grandchildren, Mary (Tom) LaLonde, Kyle Konieczka, Mandy (Adam) Stewart, Courtney (Bryan) McDonald, Brianna, Chase and Parker Churchill; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Blake, Cole, Skylar, Gracie, Wyatt; brother-in-law, Edward (Nancy) Howell; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by father, James Lanford; mother, Mary Braden; in-laws, Charles and Eva Howell; brothers, James “Ed” (Irene) Lanford, Charles Lanford, Henry Lanford; sister, Elaine Coates. The family would like to say a special thank you to Absolute Hospice, especially Sheila, Heather and Shonda.
