MANYCH, Peggy - Of Flint, age 76, died Monday, March 7, 2011. Funeral service will be held 11:00 am, Friday, March 11 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery. Visitation 12-8 pm Thursday at the funeral home and one hour prior to funeral service Friday. Peggy was born in Durham, North Carolina on December 3, 1934. She was the daughter of the late Wilfred E. and Grace (Richardson) Vincent. She married Nickolas Manych on October 29, 1955 in Flint. He passed away on April 10, 1997. Peggy graduated from Flushing High School, and attended dental hygienist school in Elkhart, Indiana. She was a lifelong learner and attended classes at Flint Junior College and U of M Flint, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree. Peggy worked for years for the Flint Community Schools, and retired from her position as Community Liaison. Peggy was an active and vibrant part of the Flint community her entire life. For a number of years, she was chair of the Flint Committee to Welcome International Visitors. She delighted in helping showcase Flint, and welcomed visitors from all over the world into her home. She represented the Flint area for the U.S. Department of State, the National Council of International Visitors. Peggy was a member and served as president of the Flint Junior Women's Club. She was a Girl Scout Leader, a Steppingstone leader, and enjoyed taking groups to Hamady House. She was active in Democratic politics in Flint, and served as a delegate and precinct captain. She was a member of the Flint International Institute for many years. Peggy influenced the lives of many young people. She showed us how to live with joy, courage and conviction. She is survived by her daughter, Susan and husband Frank Busnardo; Sons, Nickolas Vincent Manych, Tim Manych and wife Susan Kettler; Sister-in-law, Agnes Dunn; Brother-in-law, Paul Manych; her companion, rescued Bouvier, Jaz; many beloved nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law Wilfred and Jean Vincent; sisters-in-law Anna Poupore, Frances Thorington and Helen Manych.
