NESMITH, Phylliss E. Rockafellow (Stuart) – of Goodrich, MI, age 91, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2019. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Goodrich United Methodist Church, 8071 South State Road, Goodrich, MI 48438; Pastor Joel Walther officiating. Interment immediately following the service in Goodrich Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 2-8 PM Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423 and 10-11 AM Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Goodrich United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family for donation to The Pines of Goodrich, in memory of Phylliss.
Phylliss was born in Flint, MI on July 25, 1927, daughter of the late Russell and Janet (Coxon) Stuart. She was a graduate of Grand Blanc High School Class of 1945. Phylliss married Eldon “Gus” Rockafellow on January 26, 1946 and he preceded her in death in March 2, 1996. On March 11, 2000, Phylliss married Ted Nesmith and he preceded her in death on April 20, 2008. Phylliss retired from the Goodrich Post Office in 1990. She was a member of Goodrich United Methodist Church.
Phylliss is survived by 3 daughters, Jackie McDonald, Shirley (Dale) Herman and April Rockafellow; 7 grandchildren, John VanTine, Rachel Bennett, Andrew (Diana) Herman, Brooke (Jerry) Piger, Jennifer Grab, Ryan (Jamie) Grab and Adam Rockafellow; 11 great-grandchildren, Jackson Herman, Cameron Herman, Grant Davis, Kaylyn Piger, Mason Brewer, Emersyn Grab, Ellisen Grab, Spencer VanTine, Case Bennett, Gage Bennett and Jenna Grab; many nieces, nephews, other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Janet VanTine.
