COUNCILOR, Edward Joseph – of Otisville, MI, age 58, joined his late wife, Ruth on Friday, November 22, 2019. A Funeral Liturgy will be held 3 PM Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 North Dayton Street, Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski officiating. Cremation will take place following the service. The family will receive visitors 12-8 PM Monday, November 25, 2019 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423 and 2-3 PM Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kearsley High School, in Ed’s memory.
Ed was born in Flint, MI on August 20, 1961, son of the late George Councilor and Patricia (Polidan) and Ken Pearson. He earned a Master’s Degree from Central Michigan University. Ed married Ruth A. Huelskamp on November 3, 1984 and she preceded him in death on December 2, 2007. He taught history at Kearsley High School since 1992. Ed was very active in the Kearlsey Athletics Program, including Special Olympics and coaching numerous middle school sports. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors, kayaking, cycling and camping. Ed was a skilled woodworker and shared a passion for Christmas with his wife, Ruth. He was deeply loved by all who knew him. Ed’s sense of humor and especially his practical jokes will be greatly missed.
Ed is survived by 2 children, Kyle (Kim) Councilor and Kelsey (Donald) Decker; 2 sisters, Tricia (Tom) Shannon and Jessica (Jeff Humphrey) Pearson; many nieces, nephews, other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Councilor and Patricia and Ken Pearson; his wife, Ruth Councilor and brother, Cavin Councilor.
