Ermalean (Kendrix) Hall was born April 30, 1942 in Urbana, Arkansas to Floyd and Letha Norman Kendrix. She is the sixth of eight children and attended Eldorado High School. In 1964 she married Sammie Lee Hall in Warren, Arkansas. During their union they had five beautiful children. Ermalean moved to Flint, MI in 1970 where she resided for over fifty years.
Ermalean (Erma) was affectionately known as Mama Hall and every memory of her ended with a smile. Erma’s greatest joy was being an amazing mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Erma was also a loving foster mother for over ten years. She was a devoted wife, sister, aunt, and friend. She moved with humility, confidence, elegance, and love.
Erma accepted Christ at an early age and dedicated her life to the Lord. Her dedication to the church and the community was very admirable. She became an active member of New Beginnings Ministries in 1999. She devoted countless hours of service to this church and loved her church family dearly. Erma was a woman of great faith with an anointment over her soul. Her relationship with the Lord was quite special. It was customary for Erma to designate mandatory uninterrupted prayer time daily. In 2013 as her health began to decline she relocated to Lakeland, Florida with her daughter Patricia and granddaughter Lauren. Keeping God as the head of her life Erma joined the City of Refuge Church of God in Christ and became a mother of the church. As her health continued to decline her faith grew stronger, giving praise and glory to God. She encouraged anyone she encountered to develop a relationship with God and to live life in a spiritual manner.
Erma took great pride and pleasure in bringing the family together yearly for the big Thanksgiving feast. It was undoubtedly the best time of the year! She loved to read the bible, cook, share memories and enjoyed the opportunity to somehow remain the reigning champion of ALL the games (Dominos, Uno, Rack-O, Scrabble, Concentration etc.) played. She never missed a good bargain and loved to attend rummage sales. Some of her favorite hobbies were journaling, fishing with her friends and grandchildren.
On February 03, 2020 God spoke and Erma answered the call to be with the Lord.
Erma leaves to cherish her memory best friend and daughter, Patricia Hall-Horne; three sons, Samuel (RaShonda) Hall III, Bobby Hall, and Michael Hall; two daughter-in-laws, Sharee Hall and Karen Hall; grandchildren, Victoria, Ariana, LaShauna, Desmond, Samuel, Jordan, Jasmine Marie, Amber, Christa, Bobby Jr., Kayla, Calvin, Alyssa, Mikaya, Myriah, Darnell, Samantha, Atiya, De’Quandre, Selah, Madison, Jasmine, Taylor and Lauren; Goddaughter, Theresa Nelson; special family friends, Elaine Brown, Deloris Odom and Vernestine Newton; thirteen great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends including three special nieces, Priscilla McMurrain, Estella Sanders and Jessica Hicks. She will be greatly missed by all. Erma’s legacy will live on through all those whom she encountered.
Ermalean is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers; Elijah Kendrix, James (Ruby) Kendrix, five sisters; Alvorn Greenwood, Peacola Bridges, Maxine Johnson, Francetta Thomas, and Minnie Ruth Burns, son; David Hall.
The family would like to express special thanks to Pastor Clarence Lewis and the New Beginnings Ministries family, Lakeland Regional Medical Center (MICU), Holmes Funeral Home (Haines City, FL), Legacy Funeral Chapel (Flint, MI), and Anne Marie Lounds (Beyada Home Healthcare Aid). Due to your contribution Erma Hall may rest peacefully in heaven.
