SURA, Joyce A. -Of Flint, age 86, died Monday, December 19, 2016 at her residence.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, December 23, 2016 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
Those desiring may make contributions to the Humane Society of Genesee County.
Visitation 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday and 11 a.m. Friday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Joyce was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on March 30, 1930, the daughter of Harold and Bina Baird and step-father, Fred Meyers.
On May 15, 1982 she married James H. Sura.
Mrs. Sura retired in 1992 from Peerless Mattress Company, after 33 years of service.
Surviving are husband, James;
two children, Richard and William Butters;
two step-children, Teri Childers and Karen Sura;
four grandchildren, Michael, Jonathan, Julie and Kathryn;
three step-grandchildren, Benjamin, Connor and Sara;
five great-grandchildren, Jeremie, Erinn, Michael, Laiklyn and Jessie.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathryn; her father, who died tragically while saving the family from a burning home; mother and step-father.
