SADLER, Glyn Wilburn - Of Flushing, age 97, died Monday, September 11, 2017 at Caretel Inns of Linden.
Funeral service will be held 11am Thursday, September 14, 2017 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,
Pastor Larry Burk officiating.
Burial in Crestwood Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to South Baptist Church.
Visitation 10am Thursday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Glyn was born in Benton, Missouri on August 5, 1920, the son of Clyde and Lula (Mitchell) Sadler. He graduated from Benton High School, Class of 1938. He joined the Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC) after high school at New Madrid, Missouri and served for two years. Glyn entered the Army Signal Corps during World War II and served for 38 months. He learned American Telegraph (Morse) Code to read and transmit Western Union communiques. Glyn worked for Frisco Railroad in Missouri and Arkansas as a Depot Agent and Telegraph Operator for 8 years. On March 10, 1945, he married Virginia Marie Everett while in the armed services and later moved to Flint where he worked in the Traffic Department at Fisher Body #1 for 29 years, retiring in 1980. Virginia passed away in 1999. Glyn married Louise Craig of Flushing in 2000.
Surviving are wife, Louise; he and Virginia had 3 children;
3 children, Sherry Cates of Flint, Dr. Ron Sadler and wife Cathy and Beverly Dent and husband Greg, both of Fenton. He also has a son, Barry Sadler and wife Shirley of San Antonio, Texas.
Glyn also had a special relationship with Louise’s son Mark.
Also surviving are 3 grandsons, Brian Olay and wife Tammy, Jimmie Tolliver and Ryan Sadler and wife Kelsie and two great-grandsons and 4 great-granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by 3 sisters and 3 brothers.
The family would like to thank Dr. Perez and his staff for their excellent medical care over the years. A special mention to Larry and Marilyn Sadler of Oran, Missouri, who were Glyn's relatives and were kind and welcoming to his family.
