DOWD, Dennis E. "Eddie" - of Montrose, age 78, died on Thursday, April 25, 2013 at McLaren Hospital. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM, Monday, April 29, 2013 at SS Charles and Helena Catholic Church in Clio. Fr. Bob McGraw officiating. Burial in Montrose Twp. Cemetery. Friends may call at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio on Saturday from 5-8 PM and Sunday from 2-8 PM, where a Prayer Service will be held at 7 PM. He will lie in state at the church on Monday from 9:30 AM until time of Mass at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
Dennis was born April 12, 1935 to the late Edward and Cecelia (Ratza) Dowd. He married Hazel Way on August 28, 1954; she preceded him in death on September 8, 2000. He then married Diane on April 25, 2003 in Clio. Eddie retired in 1987 from Flint Truck and Bus with 30 years seniority and was a member of the UAW Local # 598. He was a member of SS Charles and Helena Catholic Church in Clio. Eddie was an active farmer his entire life and later raised and farmed with draft horses. He enjoyed playing his accordion, dancing, fishing and being with his family.
Surviving are: wife, Diane, children, Daniel (Joann) Dowd of Midland, Deborah (Glen) Miller of Clio, Richard (Corinne) Dowd of Birch Run, Celia (Keith) Whitehead of Clio, Tim (Kelly) Dowd of Lake Orion, Joan (Glenn) Liebrock of Clio, Tina Dowd of Holly; 19 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; brother, Leonard "Johnny" Dowd of Montrose; sister-in-law, Harriet Dowd of Montrose; many nieces and nephews.
