Frederick Herbert Ireland, age 81 of Grand Blanc, passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2019. He was born on October 22, 1937 in Flint to parents Herbert and Lorraine Ireland. Frederick proudly served in the US Army. He retired from Flint Central as their Athletic Director after over 40 years. Frederick was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ, and he enjoyed playing and watching all sports. Frederick is survived by his children: Cynthia Kantar, Sandra (Shane) Tiedeman, Susan (Michael) Potter, Elizabeth (Russell) Elias; grandchildren: Miles, Brittany (Anthony), Lindsey (Jack), Paige, Tyler, Madison, Samantha, Sydney; great granddaughter: Adaline. He was preceded in death by both parents; wife, Joan (Tewksbury) Ireland; brother, Robert Ireland; and son-in-law, Michael Kantar. A funeral service will be held at 11am on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at Hill Funeral Home, 11723 S. Saginaw St., Grand Blanc. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 from 4-8pm and again on Wednesday, one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10am. Interment at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery. Those desiring may make a memorial contribution to First Congregational United Church of Christ. |
