COWAN, Earl L. – of Goodrich, MI, age 89, passed away Saturday, November 16, 2024. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held on a later date. Inurnment in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery.
Earl was born in Cowan, TN on June 9, 1935, son of the late Aubrey and Mary (Faris) Cowan. On July 9, 1982, he married Nina Ellis and she preceded him in death on October 21, 2017. Earl's life was marked by his unwavering commitment to family, faith, and hard work, leaving behind a legacy of love and dedication that will be cherished by all who knew him. A member of Calvary Presbyterian Church, Earl's faith was central to his life. His life of honor, devotion, and selflessness touched the hearts of many, especially his children and grandchildren, who remember him as a loving and wise role model. Earl retired from AC Spark Plug, where he dedicated 36 years of service. His work ethic and attention to detail were evident in everything he did, from his professional life to his personal passions. Outside of work, Earl was an avid hunter, fisherman, and gardener, finding joy and peace in nature. His stories, full of humor and wisdom, were cherished by friends and family alike. Earl also enjoyed tinkering on various projects and traveling with his brother, making memories on countless adventures. Earl's legacy is one of warmth, kindness, and generosity. He was a man who gave selflessly to others and was a steadfast source of support for his loved ones. His family will forever remember his laughter, his gentle guidance, and his enduring love.
Earl leaves to carry his heart forward 2 children, Janee L. (William J.) Cowan Ward and Darrell L. Cowan; 9 grandchildren, Billy Humphries, Justin (Krystal) Humphries, Dr. Cpt. Samuel (Calvin) Cain, Benjamin Cain, Chrystal (Chris) Gleason, Joe Cowan, Melissa Mahar, Courtney Cowan and Taylor Cowan; 11 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; many other loving family members and good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Aubrey and Mary Cowan; wife, Nina Cowan; 2 brothers, Kenneth Cowan and Aubrey Cowan; 2 sons, Larry E. Cowan and Steven E. Cowan; grandson, Lawton Cowan; granddaughter, Heather Humphries and great-grandson, Devin Cowan.
