Elvis Vernon Straehly, age 76 of Hale, MI., passed away on June 6, 2024 in Flint, MI. Elvis was born on April 28, 1948. His parents were Olen and Inez (Smith) Straehly, who adopted him when he was just a baby.
As a young man he joined the United States Air Force and served honorably from 1967 – 1971. From there he went to work in the automotive industry, primarily in the Flint area, for Fischer Body and Flint Metal Fabricating. Outside of work he enjoyed participating in fast pitch softball in Port Huron and Flint areas and the senior hockey league at the IMA sports arena. Elvis also enjoyed deer hunting and fishing, including moose hunting in Canada, golfing, and snowmobiling. In previous years he belonged to the Hale Eagles Club and American Legion (OH).
Elvis is survived by the love of his life, Vickie Lynn (Render) Straehly; sons, Kevin Render and Shawn Straehly; granddaughter, Olivia Lynn Render, and many nieces and nephews.
Elvis is preceded in death by his parents.
The family will have services for Elvis at the Buresh Funeral Home in Hale. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 12, 2024 from 4:00pm – 7:00pm, and again, on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at 11:00am. The funeral service will follow at 12:00pm and include military honors. A luncheon will be held at the Eagle Club in Hale following services.
