Russell, Wava of Flushing, age 89, died Sunday, July 5, 2015, at McLaren-Flint. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, July 9, 2015, at Rossell Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Flushing Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. Thursday until the time of the service.
Wava was born in Flint, Michigan on March 9, 1926, the daughter of Laverne and Myrtle (Penoyer) Delbridge. She married Roy Russell on July 1, 1944. He preceded her in death on November 2, 1966. Wava was a Nurses Aide at Fostrian Manor in Flushing and was a caregiver to her mother and sister. She belonged to the Montrose Senior Center. Wava loved card games, playing Bingo and watching game shows, often proclaiming “Wava Wins!”. She also enjoyed time spent visiting with family and friends.
Wava is survived by her daughter, Janice and husband Terry Kelly; grandchildren, Todd (Laurie) Russell, Heather Kelly, Holly (Chris) Banghart, Alison (Tim) Murray; great-grandchildren, Morgan, Madison, Nic, Nate, McKenna and Wyatt. She was also preceded in death by her son, Ron Russell; brothers, Howard, Grant and Art Delbridge; and sister, Geraldine Britton. |
