BATTERBEE, June M. – of Clio, age 93, died Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at Maple Woods Manor. Funeral services will be 1 PM Thursday, January 12, 2012 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio, Pastor Robert Burkey officiating. Burial will be at West Vienna Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6-8PM and on Thursday from 10AM until time of services at 1 PM. Contributions may be made to a children’s charity of one’s choice.
June was born in Marion MI, on April 17, 1918 to Burl E and Zella (Peters) Wood. She moved to the Flint area with her parents when she was four years old. When she was nine years old she moved to the Clio, Mt. Morris area. She was a 1936 graduate from Mt. Morris High School. She married Stewart Batterbee on June 3, 1939. He preceded her in death on January 18, 1979. She did volunteer work for C & M Ambulance, Flint Osteopathic Hospital and Clio Nursing Home. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post # 158 in Clio, serving as Chaplain and secretary for 10 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Morris.
Surviving are: son, Donald and wife Virginia; daughters, Charlotte Mallow, Shirley and husband Kenneth Osborn; daughter in law, Shirley Batterbee; brothers Sidney Wood and wife Barbara; 15 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by: son Ronald Batterbee on March 26, 1997; son in law, Stan Mallow October 1997; granddaughter, Vicky Osborn April 10, 1994, Cindy Batterbee Campbell July 1999; grandson John Batterbee; great granddaughter, Micque Bloomfield in 2003; great grandson, Travis; a sister and a brother.
