LABBY, Nelson Jr. "Bud" - age 95, of Clio, went to live with his Lord and Savior on Friday, November 23, 2016, at Victoria's House in Flint. Funeral services will be held at 12PM Monday, November 28, 2016 at the O'Guinn Funeral Home in Clio. Pastor LuAnn Rourke officiating. Family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Monday from 10AM until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to Adopt- A-Pet of Fenton or Food Bank of Eastern Michigan.
Bud was born on April 25, 1921 in Clio, Michigan to Nelson and Delta (St. Clair) Labby, Sr. He lived his entire life in Clio, graduating from Clio High School in 1939 and attending Baker Business College. Bud was employed with Michigan Bell Telephone, retiring in 1983 after 43 years of service. On July 4, 1942, Bud married his true love, Lois Ellison, and after celebrating 71 years of marriage, Lois preceded him in death in 2014. He was an active member of Bethany United Methodist Church where he served as chairman of the finance board. Bud served in various positions in the City of Clio, including city commissioner, mayor, and being on the Clio Board of Education. Bud loved spending time with his family, vacationing in East Tawas, working in his yard, and woodworking.
Bud is survived by: Daughter, Cheryl Geister of Clio; Son, Chad Labby (Sandy Wiley) of Grand Blanc; Grandchildren: Stephanie (Kevin) Polzin, Aaron (Alison) Geister, Meghan Labby and Amanda Labby; Great-grandchildren: Christian and Peyton Polzin and Joshua and Ryan Geister. He was preceded in death by: Sister, Eileen and brother-in-law Francis Babcock; Son-in-law, Kirk Geister; Daughter-in-law, Rhonda Labby, and niece, Pamara Babcock.
