KIPPE, Edward Jay -- Age 81, of Swartz Creek, went to the Lord Wednesday, June 20, 2018, peacefully at home concluding a long Alzheimer's journey. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Saturday June 23 at Resurrection Reform Church, 5225 Calkins Rd., Flint. Pastors, Doug and Kristi Kiel officiating. Burial at Loud Township Cemetery, Montmorency County. Visitation will be 2-8 PM Thursday and again 4:30PM - 8PM Friday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel. Our temporary location at Hill Creek Church 5363 Hill Rd., Mundy Township. Visitation will also be held 12 PM Saturday until time of service at Resurrection Reform Church. Those desiring may make contributions to Resurrection Reform Church.
Edward was born February 23, 1937 the son of William and Claudina (Peterson) Kippe in Flint, he married Larrilee Ann Riley December 20, 1958 at Fleming Rd., Presbyterian Church in Flint where he was an Elder and a Deacon. They were members of the Mariners Couples Club and had many good friends. Ed and Larrilee are members of Resurrection Reform Church in Flint. He retired from Chevrolet V-8 Engine Plant in 1991with 30 years of service and was a member of the UAW Local 659. Ed graduated Kearsley High School in 1956, and played drum in the marching band. He enjoyed the company of his extended family and many friends from high school, church, Pinochle Club and Flint Banjo Club. Ed loved his cabin, enjoying swimming and fishing in Gilcrest Creek, hunting, campfires with family and friends, cutting and planting trees, and fishing. He liked all things mechanical and could fix and restore almost anything. Ed was also an expert woodworker, harvesting his own trees and building furniture, grandfather clocks, curio cabinets, etc... He cherished his wood Cris-Craft Boat and was a member of the Antique Boat Society. Ed was a member of the Flint Banjo Club and Fretted Instrumental Guild, and in the 60s- 70s was active in the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts at Civic Park and Swartz Creek as well as Explorer Post 350 at Chevy V-8, serving as a committee member. Ed and Larrilee traveled from Hawaii in the west to St Petersburg in the east. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Claudia , brother and sister in law Bill and Nell Kippe; brother in law Victor Kietzman. He is survived by his wife Larrilee Kippe; son, Edward L. Kippe, son, and daughter in law Andrew and Jodi Kippe; grandson, Alexander Kippe; sisters Joann Kietzman and Sally Edson, brother and sister in law, Jim and Peggy Edson; many nieces and nephews, cousins, grand nieces and grand nephews.
