HIGGERSON, Jr. Harold - Of Swartz Creek, age 77, died Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at his residence.
Visitation will be held 4-8pm Saturday, May 14, 2016 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
Burial in Evergreen Cemetery in New Madrid County, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Higgerson School House, New Madrid County, Missouri.
Harold was born in New Madrid County, Missouri on September 29, 1938, the son of the late Harold and Lula B. Higgerson (Keene). He moved to Flint, Michigan at the age of 14. After three years, three months and twenty-six days in the United States Air Force, he married Glinda R. Henry. They would be blessed with four children, 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, and they recently celebrated 58 years of marriage. Harold spent thirty years working as a Journeyman Electrician at the Grand Blanc Tank Plant. He was also a member of UAW Local #1292, American Legion Post #595 and Masonic Lodge #108 F.&A.M. Harold enjoyed many years of bowling and competed in many tournaments, finding success in winning the All Events Championship Honors in the 1969 Flint City Tournament. Many retirement years were spent hunting and fishing with friends and family.
Surviving are wife, Glinda;
sons, Harold III and wife Jill, Thomas W. and wife Sally;
daughters, Cynthia D. Gairhan and husband Don, and Michelle R. Wamsley and husband Joseph;
11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren;
and his favorite buddy, dog, Joe Joe.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Freda LeGrand, Verla Wheeler, Emma Coburn and brother, Kenneth.
