FORTUNE, Mary E. – age 96, passed away on October 17, 2018 in Clio, Michigan. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, October 22, 2018 with one hour of visitation prior to the service at Reigle Funeral Home – 5501 W. Pierson Road, Flushing, Michigan with Pastor Jeff King officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 21, 2018 from 2:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at Reigle Funeral Home. Mary was born on August 16, 1922 in Hornersville, MO to the late Ulus and Carmen Rogers. In Paragould, Arkansas, Mary married the love of her life James H. Fortune. They were happily married for 71 years until his passing in 2012. Mary was a licensed nurse practitioner for 22 years at Hurley Hospital in Flint, Michigan. Mary was a longtime member of Ainsworth Baptist Church. She loved to cook. Mary had a box full of recipes and was well known for her delicious cobbler. She enjoyed quilting, especially when it was for her family. Mary was a devout Christian and loved to share her faith with whoever would listen. Mary was a wonderful woman that will be deeply missed. She is survived by her sister, Betty Urchyk; nieces and nephews: Rhonda (Richard) Demarck, Dale (Cindy) Sivil, Vernell (Charles Percy) O’Hara, Verlene Hoskey, Verlon (Judy) Rogers, Ulus Rogers, Terri (John) Wolfe, Jennifer Rogers; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Fortune; parents, Ulus and Carmen Rogers; brothers: James Rogers, and Vernon Rogers. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Ainsworth Baptist Church in memory of Mary. |
