BODDY, Roland Edward – Of Burton, age 94, died Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at Caretel Inns of Linden.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 6, 2017 at
Central Church of the Nazarene, G-1261 West Bristol Road, Flint, Pastor Jon Gildner and Pastor Matthew Soulia co-officiating.
Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery.

Visitation 2-8 p.m. Friday May 5, 2017 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
Mr. Boddy will be at Central Church of the Nazarene from 10 a.m. Saturday, May 6, 2017 until the time of the service at 11 a.m.
Roland was born in Flint, Michigan on May 3, 1922, the son of the late Benjamin and Sophia (Swanson) Boddy.
He graduated from Flint Central High School and served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, in which he was a Communications Specialist in the Philippine Islands.
On June 26, 1943 he married Cherry “Bonnie” Smith in Westwood, California.
Roland was a great dad and grandpa, always having time for others. He never met a stranger, always eager to befriend everyone.
He was known for his kindness and servanthood along with his wife in their church and community at Central Church of the Nazarene. The love of God was evident to everyone he touched.
Mr. Boddy was employed by Michigan Bell Telephone, where he worked in communications. In his spare time, he was always building and the go to repairman.
Surviving are wife, Bonnie;
children, Michael (Kristin) Boddy,
Jan (David) Kunz,
Dan (Tammie) Boddy and
JoAnne (Jess) Soulia;
9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Eunice Robinson.
