VALKO, Richard S. – Of Mundy Township, age 76, died Monday, March 25, 2019 at home.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 29, 2019 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 11804 South Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc, Father Peter Lawrence officiating.
Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery.
Those desiring may make contributions to the charity of one’s choice.
Visitation 10:00 a.m. Friday until the time of the Mass.
Richard was born in Passaic, New Jersey on August 19, 1942, the son of the late Stephen J. and Margaret (Homa) Valko.
On April 5, 1975 he married Susan Nations in Tucson, Arizona.
He served in the United States Air Force.
Mr. Valko was a graduate of Newark College of Engineering and was employed by GM for 33 years as an Engineer.
He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
He was a member of the Ruffed Grouse Society, the Michigan Duck Hunters Association and attended Retired Men’s Fellowship of Greater Flint.
Dick’s faith and church were most important, as were his family, dog, traveling, spending time at his cabin up north, reading, cooking and talking about airplanes from his time in the United States Air Force.
Surviving are wife, Susan;
sons, Stephen (Samantha) Valko and
Richard J. (Bailey) Valko;
grandchildren, Andrew, Joseph and Georgia Brooke;
sister, Rosemary (David) Kingma;
many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Lorraine Bielecki.
