THOMPSON, Ernest R. – Of Burton, age 77, died Monday, September 7, 2020 at Ascension Genesys Hospital.
Private service will be held at the Swartz Funeral Home, cremation will take place following the service.
Those desiring may make contributions to The Salvation Army-Flint.
Visitation 3-8 p.m. Friday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
Ernest was born in Logan, West Virginia on July 1, 1943, the son of
the late Charlie and Grace (Reynolds) Thompson.
On February 29, 1964 he married Evelyn Daugherty in Caryville, TN.
He loved camping, fishing, hanging Christmas lights and especially loved spending time with his family.
Ernest retired from GM after 40 years of service.
Surviving are wife, Evelyn;
daughters, Melissa Gath and Annette Stimson;
grandchildren, Brandon (Kiah), Zachary (Emma), Kayla (Terrance) and Taylor;
great-granddaughters, Marley, Lilianne and Posie;
brothers, Irland “Arnold” Thompson, Kenny and wife Sue Thompson, Eugene and wife Ruth Ann Thompson;
sister-in-law, Penny Thompson;
many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Harold, Pete, Arthur, Mack, Dallas and Terry Thompson and Charles Adkins; sisters, Helen Hyder, Ethel Justice and Dolly Star.
