DAVIS, Rayna Suzanne (Wilson) – Of Flushing, age 16, died Friday, September 18, 2015.
Visitation 1-3 and 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 23th and Thursday, September 24th at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
A Private funeral service, by invitation only, will be held.
Our lovely Rayna was born on November 11, 1998 in Birmingham, Alabama. She moved to the Flint area in infancy, and entered Flushing schools as a first grader.
Rayna was currently a Senior at Flushing High School, and very involved in several organizations.
She was an excellent trombone and euphonium player, and a member of the marching band for four years. She was currently in the Wind Ensemble, Full Orchestra, Concert Band and Jazz Band.
She was awarded a plaque as a Sophomore for Most Distinguished Brass Player, which now hangs in the hall of the high school. Rayna also played in many honors bands across the state
She was a talented artist, and a member of the Art Honor Society. She was President of Students for Choice, and a member of Mu Alpha Theta Honor Society. She tutored math and trombone, and has volunteered at the North End Soup Kitchen and Flint Hispanic Center.
Because it was Rayna’s plan to major in music in college, and eventually become a composer, in lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations for a scholarship in her name to benefit a talented instrumental music student at Flushing High School. Checks may be made payable to Merrill Lynch-Rayna Davis Music Memorial Fund.
Surviving are mother and father, Jenny and Chris Wilson;
grandparents, Sally Wilson,
Bryan and Tammy Prentice, and
Linda Davis;
aunts and uncles, Joanna and Jeff Boshaw,
Lourdes and Geoffrey Wilson;
special cousin, Sydney Soloc and many other cousins and friends.
In her sixteen years, Rayna brought us a world of happiness, laughter, love and joy. She was beautiful, intelligent, kind and thoughtful and the light of our lives. She will live in the hearts and minds of those who loved her forever.
