PERSONS, James (Bruce) – of Montrose, age 83, died Monday, December 12, 2011 at Avalon Hospice. Funeral services will be held at 11AM Saturday, December 17, 2011 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Montrose. Rev. Wayne Ferrigan officiating. Burial in Montrose Township Cemetery. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Friday from 11AM- 4PM and from 6 to 8PM and on Saturday from 10 AM until time of service. Contributions may be made to the Montrose Veteran’s Bell fund.
Bruce resided in the Maple Grove and Montrose areas all of his life. He married Christina McDonald on May 21, 1954 in Angola, Indiana. Bruce graduated from Chesaning School. He was a Veteran of the Korean War. He retired from Buick City as a Lieutenant with security after 34 years of service. Bruce enjoyed hunting, coaching little league baseball, gardening and golf.
He is survived by: his wife, Christina; Son: Brian (Darlene) Persons; Granddaughters: Melissa (Charles) Jewett, Nicole Persons, Great Granddaughter: Elizabeth Jewett; sister: Ila Jean (Fred) Cline; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his son: Mark Persons, parents James (Bruce) Persons, Ellen (Johnson) Persons, brother: Dennis Persons; sister: Ida Jane Kinsey; and brother-in-law: Don Kinsey.
