Skinner, Floyd K - Age 95, of Swartz Creek, died April 13, 2018. Services will be held 11 AM Tuesday, April 17 at the Swartz Creek United Methodist Church, Dr. Gary Glanville officiating. Interment in Bendle Cemetery. Visitation will be held 12-5 and 7-9 PM Monday, April 16 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, and 10-11 AM Tuesday April 17 at the church. Those desiring may make contributions to the Swartz Creek United Methodist Church. Floyd was born on October 25, 1922 in Argentine Township the son of Earl and Burniece (Keller) Skinner. He graduated from Linden High School in 1941 and then joined the Army where he served in WWII from 1942-1945. He married Betty Baxter on August 18, 1946; she preceded him in death on April 9, 2013. Floyd received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Albion College in 1950. He worked as an Account Examiner for the State of Michigan from 1951-1952. He then worked as a Material Control Specialist for GMPD retiring in 1983 with 31 years of service. He and Betty lived in Lansing for twenty years prior to moving to Swartz Creek in 1972. He was a member of the Swartz Creek United Methodist Church, The Men's Club, and VFW #3243 of Fenton. He volunteered with Cub Scouts for several years and served as a Neighborhood Commissioner for Scouts. He enjoyed Western style square dancing for over 30 years. He was a member of Prime Timers at church as well as a member of the Swartz Creek Senior Citizens.
Surviving are children: David of Brighton, Roger (Maryann) of Anchorage, AK, Linda (Art) Sholtey of Durand, Susan (William) Martin of Sarasota, FL; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Floyd was preceded in death by his wife; parents; siblings, James (Eleanore) Skinner, Ward (Ethel) Skinner, Lois (Robert) Frank, Lucille (Dean) Bancroft; son-in-law Elvin Lockhart; daughter-in-law Paula (Borowiak) Skinner.
