GAMBLE, Mr. Doris - Age 94, of Mt. Morris, died Thursday August 20, 2020. A private funeral services will be held, a live stream will be available to watch at 12:30PM Tuesday September 1st at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Burial will follow in Great Lakes National Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4PM-6PM Monday August 31st at the funeral home. Doris was born November 19, 1925 in LaGrange, GA, the son of Bob and Hattie (Williams) Gambrell. He married Willie Mae Davis in LaGrange, GA on September 2 ,1948. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He lived in Flint most of his life and retired from the Chevrolet V-8 plant on VanSlyke Road in Flint. Doris enjoyed repairing cars, farming and spending time with his grandchildren. His favorite hobby was talking on the CB radio, his handle was "Micky Morris Kid". Doris was a member of Birch Chapel Church in LaGrange, GA. Surviving are: wife of 72 years, Willie Mae Gamble of Mt.Morris; children, Ernest "Gene" Ellison of Decatur, GA, Donnie Gamble of Huntsville AL, Ronnie Gamble of Flint, Melinda Gaither of Flint, Mark Gamble of West Bloomfield, Wanda Gamble Mooiman of Arlington, TX, Wendell Gamble of Flower Mound, TX and LaRonda Honeycutt of Fairfield, CA. 19 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Hattie (Davis) Gambrell; 2 children, Marion Dunn and Anthony Gamble and his 5 siblings. Tributes may be posted at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com. |
