John Lewis Hinds, age 77 of Flushing, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2020. He was born on April 6, 1942 in Flushing, Ohio to parents Harold and Mildred (Trokel) Hinds. John was an avid sports fan and enjoyed playing and watching baseball, golf, bowling, and was even a baseball and bowling coach at one time. He signed a minor league contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1967 and later was inducted in the USSSA Softball Hall of Fame in 1987. John retired in 2000 as a supervisor with General Motors. John is survived by his wife of six years, Renee Hinds; children: Chris (Christina) Hinds and Jamie Hinds; step-daughter, Kendra (Matt) Connolly; grandchildren: Caroline, Layla, Lennon, and Ethan; siblings: Connie and Gary (Lynette); nieces Erica, Vickie, Shellie; nephews: Dino and Joe. He was preceded in death by both parents, and his brother, William. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 from 1-7pm at Reigle Funeral Home 5501 W. Pierson Rd., Flushing. A Celebration of Life service will begin at 7pm on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial contribution to the Parkinson’s Foundation in John’s name. |
