ARNOLD, STEVEN M. - of Montrose, age 59, lost his long, hard battle with Cancer on Tuesday, August 29, 2017. Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 2PM Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at the Montrose Family Worship Center - 9453 Vienna Rd., in Montrose. Pastor Robert Leming officiating. The family will receive visitors at the church on Tuesday from from 10AM until 2PM. Following the service will be a Celebration of Steve’s Life from 3:30 until 6PM at the Montrose Pub. Sharon Benmark will be speaking, and family requests others to share memories. Steve was a jeans and t-shirt guy, his wife would like everyone attending to please wear jeans, and your favorite Detroit Tigers or NASCAR t-shirt in his honor. Memorial contributions may be made to Steve’s wife, Carolyn Arnold to help with funeral expenses.
Steve was born March 10, 1958 in Saginaw, Michigan. Son of the late Peter and Sharon (Reimer) Arnold. He married Carolyn Burke on August 28, 2004 in Montrose after a 13-year courtship. Steve was a devoted Detroit Tigers fan, win or lose, he cheered them on. He loved watching NASCAR races weekly, as Kasey Kahne was “his man”. Steve was an avid fisherman, and bow hunter. He enjoyed coaching little league back in the 90’s, and gardening with his uncle, Ed. During his childhood, he would go backroading and camping in Glennie, as he loved being outdoors enjoying nature at its finest. Steve also enjoyed woodworking, candle making, glass etching, riding his motorcycle, drinking beer, and playing Keno.
Surviving are: Beloved wife, Carolyn Arnold of Montrose; Daughters: Lisa (Tim) Hillier of Clio, Tina (Terry) Arnold of Arizona; Stepsons: Dawayne (Jennifer) Houghteling of Montrose, Luke (Ashley) Houghteling of West Bloomfield, and Travis (Jennie) Houghteling of Clinton Twp.; Grandchildren: Alyssa, Tyler and Karlee Hillier, Anthony, Miranda, and Lara Montague, Bethany, Chloe’, Alaina, and Lillian Houghteling; Sisters: Lori Brockless of Flint, Cindy (Jim) Duby of Montrose; Brother, Kenny Arnold of Burton; Father in law, Donald L. Burke of Montrose; Sisters in law: Brenda Johnson of Montrose, and Cheryl (Dutch) West of Montrose; Brothers in law: Donald O. Burke of Montrose, and Scott (Melissa) Burke of Mt. Morris; Several loving nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, and cousins; His friends at the Montrose Pub: Owners: Greg, Helaine Kuzinar, Anthony and Andrew Powell, Ted Kuzinar, Deb Harris, Jerry and Cindy Cole, Terry and Linda Fortenberry, Raymond DeSanders; Favorite bartender, Becky Volz; Former bartender, Rachel Hebl; Cooks: Kathy (Kat) Jacobs, and Jim Seal; Many others that Steve became friends with over the years, please know he loved and appreciated all of you dearly and each of your friendships. Steve was also preceded in death by his grandparents; Sister, Colleen D. Arnold; Niece, Carol Arnold; Brothers in law: Woody Brockless, and Barry Hutchinson; Mother in law, Darlene J. Burke; Brother in law, Michael D. Johnson. Steve’s wife, Carolyn would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses at wellspring Lutheran Services: Amanda, Marina, and Sandi for all their love and care her husband received over the past few months.
