PHILLIPS, Helen Marie (Polzin) – of Davison, age 76, passed away November 12, 2016 at Genesys Health Park. A Funeral Service will be held 10 AM Friday, November 18, 2016 at St. Mary Magdalene Orthodox Church, 2439 S. Long Lake Rd., Fenton; Fr. Gabriel Bilas officiating. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 12-8 PM with a Parastas Prayer Service held at 7 PM Thursday at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison and 9-10 AM Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Magdalene Orthodox Church or the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan.
Helen was born in Flint, MI on January 29, 1940, daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Polonic) Oginsky. She married Arthur Polzin in December 1968 and he preceded her in death in November 2002. Helen married Douglas Phillips on May 10, 2008. She graduated from Dye High School in 1958. Helen was a loving wife and loved God and her church. She worked at AC Spark Plug for over 30 years. Helen enjoyed going to the casino and playing Euchre. She especially loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and listening to all music, particularly polkas.
Helen is survived by her husband, Douglas James Phillips; daughter, Tamara (Brian) Arnes; granddaughters, Katherine, Abigail and Ava; step-children, Thomas (Tammy) Phillips, Patricia Waddell; many other grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings, Paul “Butch” (Sharon) Oginsky, Frank (Sharon) Oginsky, Fred Oginsky, Joanne Oginsky-Lyon, Robert (Roseanne) Oginsky, James Oginsky, Joseph (Susan) Oginsky, Nicholas (Diana) Oginsky; sister-in-law, Geneva Oginsky; daughter-in-law, Debra Phillips; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and first husband, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara Ann Polzin; brothers, Douglas and Peter Oginsky; sister, Norma Oginsky.
