WOOD, Orville Wright “Butch” – Of Grand Blanc, age 97, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at American House Grand Blanc.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 31, 2018 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Shawn Kook officiating.
Burial in Crestwood Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to Faith Baptist School.
Visitation 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Orville was born in Ellison Ridge, West Virginia on March 12, 1921, the one of 12 kids born to Posey and Clara Wood. and was a resident of the Flint area the past 48 years.
Orville was a veteran of World War II, he served under George Patton in Africa, Sicily and Italy. He loved our country and its military tremendously.
Orville attended Faith Baptist of Davison and Bentley Wesleyan of Burton for many years.
Orville retired from the Tank Plant in Grand Blanc, after 18 years of service.
Surviving are son, Kenneth Earl (Phyllis) Wood of Davison;
daughter, Sandra Kay Wood of Flint;
granddaughters, Tammy (Mike) Mize, and Kimberly (Ray) Voigt;
grandson, Chris Wood;
great-grandchildren, Jordon Wood, Lindsay Lanigan, Ryan Brooks and Kailey Mize.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Neva Pauline, on January 28, 2018; great-grandson, Ian Mize and all 11 of his siblings.
Thank you to American House of Grand Blanc staff for their loving care they provided to Orville in his times of need. Also, many thanks to The Medical Team Hospice and Michelle, for their very compassionate care for Orville and our family.
