HANDY, Alberta Louise. – of Clio, age 88, died Thursday, June 16, 2016 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 11AM Monday, June 20, 2016 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Rev. Pete Scribner officiating. Burial in West Vienna Cemetery. Family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Sunday from 1PM until 8PM and Monday from 10AM until the time of service at 11AM. An Eastern Star Memorial will be held at 6PM Sunday evening at the funeral home. In Lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
Alberta was born September 5, 1927 in Powell Co., Kentucky to the late Sherman C. and Beulah F. (Brandenburg) Bellamy. She married Orville Handy on October 3, 1949. He preceded her in death August 11, 2001. Mrs. Handy retired from Fisher Coldwater in 1987 with 33 years seniority and was a member of the UAW Local # 326. She was also a member of the Clio Order of the Eastern Star – Mt. Morris Chapter. Alberta enjoyed golfing and Eastern Star Meetings. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Alberta lived life to the fullest and never met a stranger.
Surviving are: Sons: Richard (May) Handy of South Carolina and Edward Handy of Georgia; Daughters: Deborah (Rod) Winters of Burton, Shirley (Mark) Flanagin of Clio, and Sherrie (Thor) Taylor of Clio; 8 grandchildren: Mellissa (Timothy), Anne (Todd), Jennifer, Mark (Krysta), Anthony, Katie (Troy), Timothy (Fiancée Angela) and Nicolas; 12 great-grandchildren: Chase, Jonathan, Brooklyn, Serenity, Jadden, Caleb, Blaine, Clayton, Mia, Ava, Opal and Beatrice; Brother, Kelly (Arlene) Bellamy; Sisters: Ruby (Hank) Faiola, Celia Estes and Shirley (Brandon) Crabtree.
