MAGNUS, Howard W. - of Clio, age 96, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 20, 2020. Funeral services will be held at 11AM Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Rev. Dan Shinabarger and Rev. Bruce Lawton officiating. Burial in Woodlawn Cemetery in Clio. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 25, 2020, from 2PM until 8PM, and Wednesday from 10AM until the time of service at 11AM. Memorial contributions may be made to New Covenant Free Methodist Church 20/20 Vision Fund.
Howard was born May 10, 1923 in Birch Run, Michigan. Son of Ernest and Gertrude (Smith) Magnus. He married Grace “Peggy” Bird May 12, 1945 in Flint and is now reunited with her in their heavenly mansion. Howard has been a faithful follower and servant of Christ for nearly 80 years. He was devoted to studying God’s word and praying daily. Howard taught Sunday school, led worship services and was on the church board for over 40 years at the Clio Wesleyan Church. He was a member of New Covenant Free Methodist Church in Clio for the
past 25 years. As a self-employed carpenter, he built and remodeled many homes in the area. Howard loved spending time with family and friends, working with his hands, gardening, singing, playing his guitar and harmonica, camping and traveling. He was always there for anyone who needed a helping hand. Howard was always thankful for those who called, visited or sent cards to him. His pride and joy were his grandchildren.
Surviving are: Children: Sharon (Earnie) Munsey, and Ronald (Lynette) Magnus; 5 grandchildren: Heidi Munsey, Kerry Munsey, Nicholas (Michelle) Magnus, Andrew (Jennifer) Magnus, and Allison Magnus; 3 great grandchildren: Collin, Carter and Addison Magnus; Brother, Robert Magnus. He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace; Daughters: Karon Magnus, and Carol Ann Alden; Son in law, John Alden; Sisters: Lillian Seder and Francis Eichorn; Brothers, Ernest, Frank, Ken and Clare.
