ELDER, Byron DeWayne “Rocky” – Of Grand Blanc, age 87, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 5, 2019 at McLaren-Flint.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Reverend Ron Austin officiating.
Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
Those desiring may make contributions to Heritage Baptist Church, Hill Road, Grand Blanc.
Visitation 1-8 p.m. Tuesday and 12 p.m. Wednesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Byron was born in Clarkston, Missouri on June 30, 1932.
He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force.
He enjoyed traveling the world with his wife, Connie. He also enjoyed deer hunting season, and going to the cabin with the guys for a week.
For 26 years Rocky and Connie went to Florida for the winter.
Byron enjoyed playing cards with friends in Florida, golfing and bowling while he was there.
When he was in Michigan Byron enjoyed bowling and playing cards with his grandsons and other family and friends.
Mr. Elder retired from GM after 36 years of driving tractor trailers.
He loved his Lord.
Surviving are his wife, Connie Elder;
step-son, David (Anna) Smith;
grandsons, David Smith and Daniel (Destiny) Smith;
and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Edna (Hutchison) Elder.
