Frank A. Tambs, Jr., of Flushing, age 88, died Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Genesys Health Park. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, October 31, 2011 at Rossell Funeral Home, Rev. Lori Johnson officiating. Cremation will follow services. Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Genesee County.
Frank was born in Flint, Michigan on September 8, 1923, the son of Francis Alonzo and Lilian (Russum) Tambs. He married Joanne Frances Lucke in Flint on September 29, 1950. She preceded him in death November 19, 1993. Frank had worked as a Tool & Die Maker at A.C. Spark Plug, retiring after 42 years. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Flushing VFW Post #5666 and a member of the A.C. Male Choir and the Flint Elks Club.
Surviving are: four children, Sherry and husband Norman Freeman, Frank A. Tambs, III and wife Tracey, Dr. James N. Tambs and wife Tanya, Belinda and husband Randall Borowicz; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Lilian Bomgardner; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Russell; brother-in-law, Skip Brandt; many nieces and nephews; special friends, Clare, Kaye and Maxine. |
