HAWKS, Joan Elaine – of Burton, age 81, passed away September 12, 2015 at Regency of Grand Blanc. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at Davison United Methodist Church, 207 E. 3rd St., Davison; Pastor Kevin Miles officiating. Burial will be in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Tuesday at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Davison United Methodist Church, Davison Free Methodist Church or Shriners Hospitals for Children.
Joan was born in Flint, MI on December 30, 1933, daughter of the late Harold and Wilma (Mott) Church. She married Wesley L. Hawks on June 25, 1955. Joan enjoyed flowers, gardening, golf and piano playing. She was part of the ABWA (American Business Women’s Association), ran the church food pantry and was a member of Davison United Methodist Church. Most of all she was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Joan worked at Bentley schools, General Electric and Buick.
Joan is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Wesley L. Hawks; son, Rodney L. Hawks (Kathy Roby); grandchildren, Danielle (John) Cheeney, Cassandra (Sean) Monahan and Brandon Hawks; great-grandchild, Peyton Cheeney; many nieces and nephews; special friends, Madeline Harvey and Roger Engstrom.
