LOWRY, Michael Dean – Of Mt. Morris, age 71, died Thursday, October 4, 2012 at Genesys Hospice Care Center in Goodrich.
Funeral service will be held at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Reverend David Hensler officiating.
Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery.
Those desiring may make contributions to Genesys Hospice Care Center in Goodrich.
Visitation 12-3 and 5-8 p.m. Sunday and 10-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Michael was born in Alma, Michigan on January 23, 1941, the son of Dean and Doris Lowry and was a resident of the Flint area most of his life.
Michael proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
He was a member of the Mt. Morris Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Flint Bowman’s Club. He enjoyed snowmobiling, bowling, boating, camping and bow hunting.
Michael was a Truck Driver for 46 years of service before retiring from Ryder in 2010 and was a member of the Teamsters Local #332.
Surviving are five children, Brian and wife Valerie June of Raleigh, NC,
Keith June of Linden,
Robin and husband Louis Hinman of Burton,
Jeffrey and wife Jana Lowry of Damon, TX,
Tim and wife Julie Lowry of Damon, TX;
first wife and mother of his children, Bethany Lowry of Flint;
second wife, Diane Lowry of Mt. Morris;
mother, Doris and husband Ken Locks of Grand Rapids, MN;
18 grandchildren;
9 great-grandchildren;
brothers, Richard and wife Kathleen Lowry of Big Rapids, MI,
Greg and wife Carol Chalmers of White Lake, MI;
half-brother, Vic Bush;
half-sister, Janie Bush, both Grand Rapids, MN;
step-sister, Diane Palmatier of Flint;
many nieces, nephews;
his dogs, Jake and Trucker.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer Lowry Price; father, Dean Lowry; Granddad Davidson and grandmother, Mutsie.
