DARNELL, Ronald - age 84 of Grand Blanc, passed away unexpectedly on March 10, 2025. He will be laid to rest, with military honors, at 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at Great Lakes National Cemetery (4200 Belford Road, Holly, Michigan 48442). Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Ron to the Humane Society of Genesee County (www.geneseehumane.org).
Ron was born on October 14, 1940 in Sherman Township, Michigan to the late Neil A. and Tessie May (Wardell) Darnell. He graduated from Grand Blanc High School where he excelled playing football, basketball and baseball. Ron served our country with the United States Air Force and upon being honorably discharged, he worked for General Motors for 30 years. He was an avid golfer who also enjoyed the outdoors and he had a passion for woodworking and cabinet making.
Surviving are his children, Denise (Ryan) McDowell of Fenton and Matthew Darnell of Grand Blanc. Grandchildren, Joshua Darnell; Ryann McDowell; Jessica Darnell. Siblings, Mike (Melody) and Glory. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, many good friends and his furry companion, Pixie. Ron was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lynn; siblings, Buck; Jim; Bob: Bird.
