IVES, Darwin – of Las Vegas, NV, formerly of Burton, age 70, passed away September 19, 2016. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison. Burial, with Military Honors will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 AM – 2 PM & 4–8 PM Wednesday and 10-11 AM Thursday.
Darwin was born in Flint, MI on October 22, 1945, son of Harland D. and Jessie M. (DeWitt) Ives. He married Linda M. Walters in Flint. Darwin was a longtime Hockey Coach with the GFHA and the EMHA and a member of the Greater Flint Hockey Referee Association. Darwin served on the Genesee County Sheriff Department as a Marine Patrol Deputy and Scuba Diver. He was a Bentley Athletic Booster and was on the Bentley School Board serving as President for three years. Darwin was a longtime member of the Davison Country Club. He was an avid NASCAR fan, loved to play golf and played in many Las Vegas Poker Tournaments. Darwin enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He retired from DuPont after 39 years.
Darwin is survived by his wife of 48 years, Linda; sons, Tim (Jill) Ives and Tony Ives; grandchildren, Trey and Abby; sisters, Alva Mae (Jerry) Greathouse and Sally (Dick) Simpson; sisters-in-law, Diana (Jim) Hoffman and Brenda (Mike) Lipp; lifetime friends, Dick (Kaye) Panchula; many nephews, nieces and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Eldon Ives.
