SALIM, Norma Eileen - Of Flushing, age 72, died Friday, July 21, 2017
at her residence.
Funeral service will be held 11am Friday, July 28, 2017 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, Father Louis Ekka officiating.
Burial in Flushing Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Autism Speaks or the Genesee County Humane Society.
Visitation 4-8pm Thursday at the funeral home.
Norma was born in Flint, Michigan on May 24, 1945 and was a life-long resident of the Flint area.
She attended Flint Southwestern High School graduating in1963. She married Fred J. Salim in 1967 and, together, they raised their family in the City of Flushing. Norma was a tireless advocate in her many endeavors. She coordinated the Sunday school program at St. George Orthodox Church and, in addition to her many varied charitable and educational endeavors over the years, she was a Twenty-year member and past president of the Flushing School District Board of Education.
Norma enjoyed horse racing and Las Vegas trips with her late husband and, more recently, spending time with her grandchildren, crafting with her sister and working within her community to assist those in need.
She is survived by her siblings Sharon (James) Riutta, Marc (Lydia) Vessells, Brian Vessells, Ellis and Elaine Salim, and Phyllis Good; children, Hank and Karen Landsgaard (Salim), Jeremy and Laura Harrison (Salim) and David and Julie Salim; Grandchildren and Great Grandchild: Wade and Connor Wood, Nathan, Rachel and Gabrielle Landsgaard, Benjamin and Kaitlyn Andries (Wood), Ryan, Joseph and Devon Brack (great grandchild AJ Arellano), Jacob Harrison and Kyra and Reese Salim all of whom knew her by the one word she loved to hear most … Grammie.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Fred J. Salim, sister-in-law Norma Salim Lazar, and grandson David Landsgaard.
