RIVARD, Joseph R. – Of Grand Blanc, age 87, died Sunday, January 6, 2019 at McLaren-Flint.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, January 11, 2019 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Todd Regester officiating.
Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
Those desiring may make contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Visitation 1-4 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. Thursday and 12 p.m. Friday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Joseph was born in Flint, Michigan on July 9, 1931, the son of the late Joseph A. and Helen R. (Shurter) Rivard.
On May 26, 1950 he married Betty Mayball at Grand Blanc United Methodist Church.
He was an accomplished high school athlete in baseball, football and basketball at Kearsley High School.
He loved to build and travel the U.S. He loved his grandchildren and pets.
Mr. Rivard was employed 44 ½ years as Supervisor for Buick, retiring in 1994.
Surviving are wife, Betty;
children, Michael Rivard, Dian Ross and Gary Rivard;
grandchildren, Michelle Rivard (Jeff Olsen),
Mallory Rivard, Maria Ross, Douglas (Jessica) Ross and Erica Rivard (Avery Jones).
He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Gerald Ross and brother, Jon Rivard.
