Frank J. Manley Jr., with twinkle in his eye, a smile to light up the room, and a heart as big as all outdoors, left this earth peacefully, on Monday, May 25, 2015. We are all sure he is in heaven regaling everyone with his unique brand of storytelling.

Frank was born in Flint, MI, to Frank J. Manley Sr. and Marie A. Manley (O’Keefe). He graduated from Flint Northern High School in 1954, where he starred in baseball and was all-state in basketball. He attended Eastern Michigan University, receiving both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees. As a college baseball player at Eastern, Frank led the nation in home runs. Later, Frank received his PhD in Educational Leadership at Western Michigan University.

Frank was an avid golfer, reader, dedicated sports fan, and longtime member of the Knights of Columbus. He leaves an enduring legacy of commitment to community, friends and, most of all, his beloved family. He had many accomplishments but his most memorable trait was his ability to make everybody feel they were his best friend.

Frank leaves behind his three sons Frank (Jennifer) Manley, Matthew Manley, and Michael (Ann-Margret) Manley; siblings Mary Cunningham and Patrick (Jill) Manley; the mother of his children, Rosina Manley; grandchildren Frank Manley, Patrick Manley, Timothy Manley, Nicholas Manley, Kaitlyn Manley, Alex McKellar, Emily McKellar, Shane Manley, Connor Manley, Meghan Manley, Matthew Manley, and great granddaughter Maddison Manley. He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Marie Manley, and sister Catherine Manley-Keidel.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 2415 Bagley Street, Flint, Father Douglas Osborn officiating.

Visitation 12-8 p.m. Monday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. A Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mr. Manley will be at the church from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the Mass.

Burial will follow at Old Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Flint, MI.
