RAGSDALE, Jerry Guy of Grand Blanc, age 82 passed away Wednesday July 3rd, 2024 after a 2 year battle with lung cancer.
Jerry was born January 17, 1942 to the parents of the late Aileen (Sharp) and Bert Ragsdale. On August 16, 1962, he married the late Kathy Brown of Flint. They resided in Grand Blanc for the past 60 years where they raised 2 sons and enjoyed watching their 4 grandchildren growing up.
Jerry graduated Southwestern High School in Flint, Michigan in 1960. He continued his education earning a Bachelor of Science from Wayne State University and a Masters of Public Admin. from the University of Michigan. Education was very important to Jerry and he continued his studies in multiple facets through most of his life including Michigan State Police Crime Laboratory, Mott Community Collete, Associate in Police Administration and Institute of Applied Science in Flint.
Jerry retired from Mass Transportation Authority in 2010 where he worked as Assistant General Manager /Administrative Finance. He was also on the Board of Directors at Genesee Intermediate School District, where he devoted countless hours making the lives of students better. Jerry also retired from the City of Flint where he worked in the Crime Lab Unit.
If Jerry wasn’t busy with his kids or grandkids, he was likely at a meeting for the Greater Flint Art Counsel, Flint City Council, Mayoral Committee, Village of Goodrich Village Manager, among many others.
Jerry is survived by 2 children, Craig, Todd (Kristin) :4 grandchildren Austin, Emily, Katie and Kyle; Sister Brenda Yoder; 2 nieces Sherry and Lisa; He was proceeded in death by wife Kathy, and brother-in-law Lanny Yoder.
Cremation has already taken place. The family will have a private service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the London Strong Foundation @ www.londonstrongfoundation.org
